Roll up door fitment

Today the doors were installed on my 30x40x16 shop. The fitment at the top at the header has a 2“-3” gap. is there a piece missing, are the doors too short or frame too tall? I will be addressing with the builder tomorrow Along with the gaps in the corners. Thank you in advance for your comments.

There is generally a rubber weatherstrip mounted to the top, I also am not seeing the side weatherstrips. Unfortunately the gap on rollup doors is large at the top when down to account for the additional bulk of the roll when it is in the up position.

You need the header seal. I would also recommend side brush seals. I just did all of this on my roll up door. Send me an emails and I will shoot you a video of mine. [email protected]

Those doors are not installed correctly. There should not be that large of a gap at the top and weather stripping will not cover.

Roll up doors typically have a significant gap. The link to the seal I posted above will cover the gap up to 6 in.

It looks to me like the doors are installed too low, they start to pull away from the header before they reach the top.
That being said, these doors DO have substantial gaps that need (can) be addressed with seals. But those gaps, at the top - they ain't right.

I likely won't install roll up doors again, they rattle like traps (wind) and seal pretty poorly in general.

thats what I am seeing as well, if they were higher the door Material would be vertical, instead of the rolling away arc

It is possible to order the door about 6 inches taller for a taller rough opening. Then there will not be as much of a gap up top. It looks like the beam at your roof may prevent you from going any higher though because of head room. I believe your best solution is the seal up top. I can also see daylight coming in from the sides. The brush seals will solve that.

On the side door it appears that your header for the door opening is above the bottom of the rolled up door. For this door/opening the header should be lower or the door and side rails should be higher. The upper door stopper on the side rails should be above the door header, this keeps the door curtain close to the header in all positions leaving minimal gap that can then be sealed with a suitable weather strip, and allows you to fully utilize the opening when the door is up.

As the rolled up door sits below the door header you cannot fully utilize the full height of the opening as your limiting factor is the height between the bottom of the rolled up door and the ground and not the header and ground.

as others have already said, the axis of he doors are too low (in my opinion.)

The "side" door can likely be corrected via raising the door itself. Looks like the main door - that can't go higher.
