I have my door opening framed for 10x8 roll up doors. I have an opportunity to purchase like new 10x10s for less than 1/2 price. Will these doors work in the framed opening I already have?

The side tracks are going to be too tall for the opening. Do you have over 10 foot inside ceiling height. If so they should work. I like roll up doors because they don't take the ceiling space away from your garage.

Cut two feet off the bottom of the vertical tracks. The doors won't know they haven't been pulled down all the way (10 ft).

This is my thought. But did not know if the top of the door would seal or even look right when closed

You'll just space the top roll appropriately from the header. It's a zero issue. The rails that hold the door have slot that allows you to move the entire roll closer or farther from your header as required. They send the side track over sized anyway..so you have to cut them regardless.

The only downside is that the roll with the door down will have a few feet still on it. No biggy.

Cutting the track down will work fine. Remember the drum size will be bigger, check headroom and back room sizes.

Looks like I am going to give it a try. Anyone have any experience putting used roll up doors up?

Getting the doors for 200 each. Seem like a deal?

That's a real good deal!

Set the vertical tracks plumb and level. You will need to lift the rolled up door up onto the top of the vertical tracks. The best way to do this is with a material lift. You can rent one at a United Rental. The door is like a window shade. The spring gets wound as the door goes down.
