I think they are referred to as "roll-up" or "overhead" doors, with the "overhead" being those that are multiple panels that roll up a track and "roll-up" being those that wind around a drum.

Roll up doors can take up a lot less space, and have no tracks in the way inside.
Overhead doors can be better insulated.

I am sure there are a lot more comparison points that will be shared here.

The roll ups don't cause problems with ceiling lights or other ceiling mounted stuff (like hoists, etc) when open.

But They don't seal against air infiltration as well as the overhead types.

On a related note, there are brush seals available for the roll ups. And, as I'm planning to install one soon, I've been looking. Can't find any that are reasonably priced and with long enough brushes to work well. At least the cheaper ones don't look long enough to work on the corrugated metal.

Anyone have a good source for these???

Found some on ebay a while back. Roll up doors direct is the name I found there. They seem to be reasonable on their prices.

The coil up style have very little insulation and can be very expensive to repair.

My Janus roll door is sealed fine. Better than my sectional IMO.

Inside view- there's brushes behind the vinyl as well

The roll
The way it's installed, door is close to wall, even when unrolling. There's a brush seal behind the roll too.
