My co-worker ryanm and I were having a discussion about tool carts. We have company issued Rubermaid Tradesmen carts. I myself have set my first craftsman 8 drawer on top. It houses my tools but is by no means convenient or stable. Ryanm pointed me to the HF 44 as a good inexpensive choice. I'm wondering the thoughts of all you fine people? We work in a food plant and cart our tools around all day. Any and all thoughts are appreciated.

The 44" is the unofficial official box of the garage journal.:bowdown::bowdown: All hail the 44":bowdown::bowdown::

I wouldn't want to drag around a 44" box all day, especially with the casters that they put on the 44's. Look into the 5 drawer HF carts.

i did see a pic somewhere here that someone took 2 HFs tool carts (not chest) and bolted the top half of one cart right under the top half of the other cart. maybe that be good for your needs. alot easier to move around.... not sure how many tools you have and what types so its just an idea.

I'd look into one of the kennedy versa cart style boxes.

The 5 drawer HF cart is pretty awesome for what it is. If you want to triple the price you can pick up a nice used SO/matco cart that is similar that will have maybe an extra row of drawer(s) and maybe a couple extra inches in depth and width. It'd prolly hold up better to being rolled around all day too especially if you will be weighing it down.

Overall the HF cart is awesome for the money though

Second on the 5 drawer cart. Mine spends half its work day bouncing around on a trailer and has held up great.
I'd love to see the doubled up one, that sounds awesome.

If it was me and that is the size of box you want to go with I say go for it.
However I would want to mount it to a separate frame and install some bigger casters.
I would even look at some pneumatic tire casters of you are working on a less than smooth surface. If not then at least the spring ride casters

I did see a 5 drawer cart with a 7 drawer side cabinet setup that. I'll have to make a run and scope it out.

Wouldn't that be almost just as wide as the 44 then? Somewhere in that ballpark. I'd rather have drawers on top and bottom like someone else did with the cart. Much more useful space and still move around better since it's not as wide.

I'll pile on. The HF 44" is awful to move around. Maneuvering it into place in a garage where it will be stationary is a huge pain. I can't even comprehend someone dragging it around a facility.

Best idea yet.
I have one of the HF 44 inch rollaways and love it. But I built it into a shelf system in my garage and hasn't moved an inch since.

The HF "U.S.General" 5 drawer tool cart is the way to go...

Or...

You could get the SnapOn version...:wtf::confused::headscrat

For 5 times as much...

Me thinks I'd go for the HF...:bounce:

The HF 44 is a great priced roller cabinet, which, like most roller cabinets, would be a lot happier parked in one place...:thumbup::thumbup:

How long have you worked for HF? Just curious.

If you only have a craftsman 8 drawer chest now then moving up to a 44 seems kind a useless the 5 drawer HF cart should suit you well.
