I thought the Garage Journal crew would be interested in this special cart our guys built this week.

Our friends at Cobra Motorcycle asked us to help them build a new Motorcycle Repair Pit Cart that they could take to races this year.

The idea was to make a rolling cart that could be loaded with all the repair tools and equipment that Cobra's pit crew uses to work on it's customers bikes at the major races.

This unit is designed to roll into and out of Cobra's massive trailer and then be set up outside the trailer in between 2 sets of bike maintenance stations.

Cobra supplied the handle bars and the wheels that come from their actual youth motorcycles!

This weekend, the Cobra trailer takes off for a set of races in Texas and Alabama. We can't wait to see some photos from the races this spring / summer!

This cart was built under the Pit Products name, which is the sister product line to Garage Pals. The same crew that builds Garage Pals garage cabinets also builds Pit Products trailer cabinets and trailer storage accessories.

Thanks for checking this out!

Yeah bitchin!!! The only thing that is missing is a little stand to put the bikes on. Cobras are some fast little machines....thanks for sharing!

Cool. Why the gap between the tool box and tray area? A wider tray area could hold more bottles and other useful stuff.

Hi kippieland,

Thanks for the feedback and the idea of the bike stand.

The idea is that after the Cobra team uses the cart for their first set of races this spring, then we'll modify the cart to change / add whatever features are needed.

And, we are working on a bike stand for them too! Your are right on!

Best,

Hi route 246,

You are right that a wider tray will probably work well, that's a good idea.

We'll hear back from the Cobra team after they use the cart for their first set of races this spring, then we'll modify the cart to change / add whatever features are useful.

Thanks for the idea.

Best,

UPDATE

We received some photos back from the guys at Cobra Motorcycle. They used the pit cart the past few weeks during some moto cross events.

Comments from the Cobra Motorcycle team:
"the Race Pit Cart worked extremely well (we affectionately called it the ‘Hot Dog Stand’). The tools and supplies were all very well laid out for our work..."

More information about the pit cart can be found here.

Very cool. Actually, when I look at the pictures from the team it doesn't need a stand. This way gives it a more professional look. Way to go! I love those champion boxes. Very nice and expensive! One thing that would be could are some graphic kits for it, so its covered in the team logo. Similar to this:

It looks great as it is!

Either way, your cart rocks! I'm sure it doesn't cost anything like the tool cart in that picture. You need to start a thread on vitalmx.com (huge MX site).....might get some more orders for it!

kippieland,

Thanks again for the advice. We don't know the MX world too well, but it's been fun to work with the Cobra guys.

I'd like to send you a thank you gift...can you contact me at [email protected].

Thanks!
