Rolling tool bag

I have been doing some online research. I want to get a rolling tool bag or box. However, every review I read complains of the wheels breaking or the pull up handle breaking. Even companies like Ridgid that offer "Lifetime Warranty" say that these two items are not covered.

I would use the thing alot so if it is going to break, I would likely have it break.

Any suggestions? One such example below....

I believe Pelican makes high quality rolling boxes. I have a few of their carry boxes that are 10+ years old and still in like-new condition. They will be higher priced than the plastic **** at Home Depot but is worth the investment.

I started with the ridgid & ended uo with the dewalt tough system, I liked that they can be individually racked. The new 2.0 boxes offer even more options for organizing inside the boxes plus I can go from truck to shop to cart, it's a nice feature.

I've had the Ridgid boxes for about 7yrs. Rollers are in and out of the truck a few times a week with no issues.

The reasons I do not like rolling bags is :they do not organize well, do not stack well, and get heavy when you try to get multiple tools in them. I’ve witnessed crew members struggle to put their bag in our gang box each night,due to weight and handles/etc. I also like the advantage if I have to move to a different job site/area,say temporarily to cut fabric/acoustic panels, I can just take the drawer unit that has my cutting tools,scissors,etc I don’t have to roll across an entire facility with every tool I have to have available at the varied work environment I am in.

The one from Atlas46 is USA made, and has had my attention for a while, but havent pulled the trigger yet because of price.

No hands on but Pelican is a very highly rated product, also $$

Short of that you are back to:

_ Rigid -best bang to buck
_ Dewalt- smart but 2 systems out there?
_ Milwaukee- nice, $$, heavy

ps that Atlas46 is dope, but theyve bumped pricing 30% lately

Ive been using the Ridgid system daily for 3+ years over jobsite and shop.

Fully loaded its over 150lbs easy. The wheels are still strong, and the handle has held up.


I do have to break it down to separate pieces to comfortably load it into my pickup, something to keep in mind when evaluating the weight/loadout/etc...

Your post brought back a bad memory.A co-worker had the Dewalt Toughstack system and realized the handle did not collapse far enough down to fit in his truck bed with a tonneau cover. Had to (dis) organize a bit and lay it on its back. Judging by the pictures of the Ridgid this is an issue they addressed. It was one of several reasons I went with the Dewalt TSTAK /Craftsman Versastack and the trolley which the handle folds down and fits many places.
