Specs look nearly identical. Minor differences in capacity, construction and aesthetics. If you're not limited to the 26" width you'd get a lot more bang for your buck with an US General 44" roller from Harbor Freight.

The way I am reading it, price is for the bottom rolling unit only ? I just bought for work, the same dimension boxes with bottom and upper unit for $379.00 at HF. HF have good tool chest/cabinet units in my opinion. I have the 13 drawer 44 in. roll cabinet at home and love it. jmo

I agree on the HF - I already have a craftsman top and can't fit the 44" - but thanks for the input.

When looking at tool boxes, you get what you pay for these days. Look at the quality of the box, the gauge of the metal, they type of slides used and how many slides are on a larger drawer. The last thing you want to load up the drawers and they sag and are hard to open.

The stainless boxes at loews look good, no paint to chip. I've always had S.O. but I will readily admit that there are lesser expensive boxes that are fine, especially for home use. 2 bottom boxes side by side with a bench on top would be a space saver, if I were starting over I think I'd go that way.

All of everyday tools fits in here. And this one is for sale too. I have a yellow matco for my shop.

The second one you listed looks like itmwill roll more stable. Is Craftsman boxes still made by Waterloo? I called them the other day about mine chest/cabinet and they said it was made in Missouri.

You can get Waterloos at Fastenal...according to their webpage. They are not top notch, they bend, flex are flimsy but work well in the 4 years ive had the combo. I know it sounds bad, what i said and all, but, by flexing i think they can take the weight without cracking. Just making much use with far less material than a mortgage chest/cabinet.

Brw, ive only moved it about a yard so i cannot comment on the rolling feature nor the locking either.

When I got my first box I got a 26" Craftsman also, then bought a middle box, then top, then another middle because I kept running out of space. Then I bought a larger roller and a cart, etc... If I had to do it all over again I would have just bought a large roller from the start.

Do you have space for a 36" wide chest? If so, and if you don't mind mixing brands, Menards has a nice looking 7-drawer, 36" wide rolling Masterforce chest for $404.

I don't own a Masterforce box, but you'll find a lot of positive comments here on GJ from those that do own the boxes. I like the 36" Masterforce style because of the shallower drawers (height) as opposed to deeper drawers. And available in multiple colors!!

What kind of budget are you looking at, if you dont mind me asking?

Why not shop around for a nicer used Mac/Matco/Snap-on/Cornwell roll around?

There are always smaller boxes for sale (used) that a tech is trying to upgrade from and recoup cost to pay for the new bigger box.

I am looking for a good rolling cabinet. The Craftsman "edge" series looks interesting - but can't quite figure out how it is different that the premium heavy duty. Any insights?
Matt

Huh! That is interesting ... other than the obvious dimensional and configuration differences I don't see anything different either. Both have Griplatch drawers with ball-bearing DynaGlide supports and 100 lb drawer capacity. Would the extra height of the 8 drawer unit be a problem for you?

Exactly. One is 6" taller with 2 extra drawers and as of yesterday was cheaper. I ordered the edge yesterday and the price went up today. I won't get it until the end of the month. I will let you know how it is.
