Help a wife out…

My brother in law informed me that my husband wants the US General 5 Drawer Rolling Cart. So, I was going to get it for him for Christmas. However, in the middle of the night last night I remembered I have a $200 gift card for Lowes (and could get more - work rewards program). So, do I get the Kobalt equivalent and save myself cash out of pocket? Or is the quality difference enough that I should get the US general from HF and save the Lowe’s gift card for something else. Thanks!!

If he wants a harbor freight don't disappoint him by purchasing something that may not fit his thoughts of what he wants and he will be forced to use so he doesn't offend/disappoint anyone.

The Kobalt tool cart only has 4 drawers and quite a bit less room in it. The 5 drawer US General is on sale right now for $189! Better grab one at that price!

Thanks for the input. I see they do have a side shelf that can be purchased separately as well if he really wants the shelf like the Kobalt.

Don't forget the box has to be put together...It won't come assembled where you can just put things in the drawer. It's a better, roomier, well built box and as stated it's $189 sale price is good for a decent quality cart.

My friend wanted a new box and he was shopping marketplace for a good used one, before he found one his GF got him a small stacked box even smaller than his 40 year old craftsman stack was.

He finally found a used bigger box, fortunately it's the same color as the larger one he purchased used, so he tucked some seldom used items in hers and it sits in the corner. It was nowhere near what he wanted but he felt that he had to use it.

There's the old rule, happy wife happy life. The flip side of that is when I guy says he wants a certain tool or car part, then get him what he wants.

For future reference, ask for a list to include

Item name, what it's listed in the catalog or online site, not what he calls it.

Part number/SKU, let's get it correct.

Price, this double checks it being the right thing

Store/website, no need to waste time looking.

Color, color option available/part number match ?

I started doing this for the wife years ago. It works out for both of us.

I love my HF cart.
As a matter of fact, I'll be buying another as soon as the shed is done.

FWIW, be advised they are heavy and a bit of a PIA to assemble
