Here's a picture of my mobile work table. It was a cart for portable dance floor pieces. I never knew of such a thing. I cut the handle off and put a stainless top on it. I've used the hell out of it. Best part I can roll it under my work bench when I'm not using it.

Heh..All my work benches are on casters. All casters swivel with brakes.

Rolling hasnt been an issue - yet. And I usually dont even press the brakes on the casters. So, unless your really pounding on something, its not too bad.

The top was a wall panel from a diner. The sides are boxed and there are two 1x2 steel tubes that run the length of it. I want to change the casters and get some with brakes.

My major difficulty with rolling work tables is getting them to stop rolling...

you can add 'jacks' to a workbench so they are not on the casters when working or beating on it.
you can also wrap a chain around the wheels to act as a break

Old milk crate dollies. They deliver milk on them at the super markets. That is a great idea. I drive a truck for Nabisco. I see these things at the stores daily. I'm sure there's a junk dolly somewhere. Thanks for the idea Bob!

I can see the grocery stores in Buckner looking for their milk crate dollies now...

Tell the kid with the knife to grab the radiator so he does not slip.:lol_hitti

Weld nuts (4) so they clear each wheel. Use all thread rod with a knob on one end (so you can screw the rods down the the floor) and a flat piece of metal on the end that touches the floor.
That would work. I had thought about a strap hinge that would bear against the fixed casters and a similar all thread tightening mechanism. The hinge would probably bend over time so it would have to be bolted on the frame. Some casters have brakes available and some do not.
