Harbor freight sells a kit with 4 or 5 kinds of discs and the mandrel. They arent as good as the 3m stuff but they arent terrible

Used both 3m and Norton. I prefer 3m but both are quality made abrasives IMHO. My autobody jobber stocks them and so does Fastenal. If you don't do allot of business with Fastenal or talk the counter guy into giving you a discount they are typically overpriced.

3m makes good ones.

I am not sure but I think you will have some trouble finding a rolocs that are speed rated to a die grinder.

Die grinders are the only tools I've ever used them with....

Anyone know where I could get a starter kit with a mandrel. A few different assorted grits and the mandrel.

Not sure yet which grits will be my go to.

Thanks,

If you go to roark you can get 10 of any grit for .25 each. So 2.50 per grit, 5 grits, that's 12.50, 1.49 for the mandrel, $10 for 5 of each of the scotchbrite pads.

All together less than $25 for every grit and size. Thats a pretty good starter kit. You can get some of the larger ones but I find myself never using them.

Roarksupply does not ship to Canada. Can anyone recommend a place to order 3m roloc discs that is either Canadian or will ship to Canada at a reasonable cost.

Thanks,

MotoDave, Thanks for the Roark recommendation. I have them bookmarked for future purchases. Great site.

I use a TON of the NEIKO Roloc Flap discs........ I pick them up on ebay in bulk purchases, they last longer than the flat discs.

Go to your local auto parts store. They will have the 3M mandrel and an assortment of discs (sandpaper and scotchbrite). Buy a couple of each and try them out. Once you figure out which grit/grade does what you need, go online and buy them buy the box (25 or 50, depending on size. MUCH cheaper).

They make the mandrel and discs in 1", 2" & 3". Figure out which size you need. I mainly use the 2", but I mainly do smaller projects.

Profile updated.

Looking for a 3m bulk pack with all different grits and mandrels. Checked amazon.ca but they only have huge 3m single grit boxes. Also walmart was a bust.

Has anyone tried the 3m flap wheel disks that have sponge and sandpaper looked kind of interesting but not sure where they would be handy.

Thanks,
