Roloc pad equivalents for Dremel?

Can anybody recommend any Roloc pad equivalents that will fit a Dremel?

I've just pulled the rear diff cover on my Escape, and cleaning all traces of the old RTV off the upper mating surface on the diff housing would have been so much quicker and easier if I could have got a Roloc pad in there.

I was able to use a full-size one on a drill to clean the lower 80%, but there was no room for it to reach the upper 20% due to the floor pan getting in the way.

What size specifically? I run 2" on a RADG and that'll get nearly anywhere...

Are you asking for 1" or ? I've honestly never shopped for smaller than 2"

I wonder if the triangular sanding pads with an OMT would accomplish what you're after.

Be ready for warnings about not using woven abrasives on head gaskets (which is irrelevant here)

I was recently looking for 1” Rolocs and was surprised to find that they exist. I think I saw 1/8” shank pad holders too, which would fit a Dremel. Check Amazon.

But how are you going to get a Dremel up and in there? An air or battery 90* die grinder would seem a better choice for clearance.

I’m a big Roloc fan! All the different options for the pads seem to work really well, and some, such as the ‘bristle’ are an almost unique product. I can’t think of anything else that I can attack a rusty surface with, that gives me such a good finish in one pass!

The only thing that occurs to me, is that a lot of the pads seem to need a fair amount of power to work well. Even if you can get a small pad in there, I’m not convinced that a dremel, good as they are, will have enough guts to do what you want.

Have you got air? You can get a Taiwanese die grinder for very little money now thst would probably make a really quick job of it with the right Roloc!

I wouldn't use roloc near anything with bearings

Indeed. Particulate matter will cause damage and/or the base metal may be removed and prevent sealing.

A fine steel or brass wire wheel is the appropriate attachment to remove gasketing materials.

Oven cleaner works really good to clean up residual grease and oil. I also use the green or red scotch brite pads and just do it by hand when space is limited and there is a concern of bearing contamination.
