Roof decking material for open eaves

I am planning on using open eaves for my barn build and was thinking about painting ZIP but the more I see photos of painted OSB, the less I like the aesthetics.

Would using ACX plywood, painted on the bottom be a robust option for open eaves roof decking or should I look to another material?

Thx!

I've always planked the visible perimeter with TnG, then plywood or OSB for the rest of the roof.

I painted some Zip on open eaves in a pinch and it took me a week max that it did not bothered me anymore so I might leave it.

Just in case I used water based paint but in another thread here huber was quoted saying it should be oil based.

Similar to what Kay said, you can go with 1/2" T&G on the exposed areas and then switch to plywood / OSB for the rest of the underlayment. I did that with my garage. Two drawbacks are the need for more care when installing, and gaps opening between boards over time. The other method, which is what we did when we rebuilt the house roof was to take an remove 3/8" off the top of the roof rafters on all the overhangs and use beaded plywood for those areas. We then ran a continuous course of OSB from the ends of the rafters up. It saved some effort on install and has held up very well.
