I have a situation where some sort of roof deicing system is the only option.

One method is the traditional roof deicing cables in an exposed zig zag pattern. Visually, not so cool.

I found this product online, Raychem/nvent RIM system (attached).

The cost is astronomical, nearly $100.00 per lineal foot for the RIM-E panel with plain old stock aluminum color choice. It's possible that I am being bent over by the distributor, too.

Is there something else? I am certainly capable of fabricating bent aluminum cover panels if I could source aluminum channel (heat sink) for the wire.

Thanks.

"Aluminum roof deice" was a bust- it resulted in stuff for metal roofs.

But, I saw "concealed snow melt" and "concealed roof deice", which turned up some results.

Unfortunately, no one will provide a price without filling out a bunch of information, so I guess that's next. They want to sell it... but don't want to sell it.

Is there any way you can get heat under the roof instead of using cables?…….. I have base board electric heat in my crawl space that I turn on (on the north side of the roof) and it works great.
