Is there a way to identify what color of shingle is currently on my roof? I bought this house as a resale, so I don't have the old invoices to would list the manufacturer and color. I have a full piece that blew off the roof. There is plenty of writing on the back of the shingle. Does any of that list a number that would help identify the color so I can buy new ones?

If you know the brand of shingle and the approximate date the shingles were bought, you can contact the manufacturer and send a picture and they could probably tell you what it was.

Remove a shingle & take it to a roofing supplier, in particular one that carries more then 1 brand of roofing, that will rule out the big box stores.

I would find the closest local place that actually stocks shingles. Since they are so impressively heavy, they aren't going to deliver very far, locally speaking. Around here its Chelsea Lumber or Allied Building Materials just as an example. Consulting with the people who work there is likely to yield the best result as they work with it every day. The box stores don't seem to be major players in this area from what I can tell.

In this one there is some sort of company logo with two overlapping triangles. I think it says "the roofing collection".

Even if you are able to identify the exact shingle used, you will not get an exact color match since shingle colors tend to change with age. Also, manufacturers are not always consistent with colors in the same shingle over the years. It's also crazy how often they drop one line and introduce another. You may find something close enough for resale but some picky buyers will object, thinking they are going to have to do the entire roof.

Good luck. I had the same problem with my new detached garage last year trying to match a major brand shingle used on the main house about 15 yrs ago. Had to settle for something close but not matching.

Itel is a company that insurance company's use to determine who made roofing, flooring, and siding and if it is still available. The adjuster sends Itel a sample to determine what it is and where to get it if it's available. A consumer can also use their services.
