Roofer (skylights) help needed

Have an odd shape house. (hence the odd shaped shop) In the middle of our home there is a room 15x15 where the hot tub was once.
The skylights leak in a couple of spots, not bad and likely an easy fix HOWEVER .................
How the heck do I access the areas between the panels to reseal .?????
I sure dont want to walk out on the glass. I think maybe laying a piece of plywood over them with some foam to cushion ?
I think I can reseal just fine so I hate to hire someone but would hate to come crashing down some 15-20 feet.
wondering how the pro's do it ?
Ideas ?

At 15 feet wide I am assuming that it is 3 feet between panes of glass? I would lay a sheet of plywood down so it straddles the rafters. The glass is strong and will actually give (bend) before breaking. As long as you don't have any thing to cause direct pressure in ane small area, you should be fine. Do you know of anyone that has a cherry picker or a lift, where you can go above then maneuver over the top? That would be the best way to get it done. Check with some local painting companies as many of them use the bucket trucks. A lot of contractors also have the 4 wheeled forklifts ( can't remember the proper name) that they use to raise rafters and roofing with. These will go quite high, extend out, and maneuver all around. You could lay a sheet of plywood on it so you could lay on it and work from above the glass.

Nice looking skylites - I bet they are custom made- perhaps why they leak!

If these are insulated glass do not seal them with regular RTV silicone sealant.
It has an acid in it that will eat up the seal between the 2 panes of glass.
I would recommend a product called GEOSEAL. It stinks but sticks to anything and is safe for Ins Glass and last for like 50 years.

OK.....I doesn't look like you would have to worry about the silicone coming in contact with the glass seal. It looks like they are pretty well flashed and just age has gotten to the sealer. Getting to the middle looks to be fun....plywood does sound like the way to go.

Can't see exactly how they are made from the pictures, but can you do some of the sealing from the inside off a ladder?

I think the only way would be resealing from the top .As the glass is laid on top of the beams.
I have yet to pull up any of the flashing . And wont till I'm ready to get up there . Summer if I can hold out till then. Prefer Spring but usually pretty rainy springs in the Seattle area . Might be slippery
