Roofing Nailer - What's a good one?

I see Hitachi and Bostitch mentioned as tops in different reviews.

What say you?

Bostitch. I have put a lot of nails through their products. They are easy to use, tough, and very reliable. You won't be disappointed.

Will you be using it a lot? I had a smaller job, but didn't want to do by hand. Of course, I'm always looking for excuses for a new tool!!! I picked up a reconditioned Rigid at Direct Tools, a local outlet store. The nailer looked new, did the job with no misfires.

Hitachi hands down! Rugged, parts readily available, and doesn't jam! Bostitch lost me a few years back with their nailers (A Floor-runner).

Bostitch. But everything I own is 20-25yrs old. I'm not sure how the latest generation holds up.

Both of my local tool repair places claim Hitachi is the best built and the easiest to get parts for . I sold my only Bostich years ago when parts became unattainable.

My Porter·Cable hasn't given me any issues. Granted it hasn't been working in a professional manner but has been several times.

Ive always run a Bostitch and have never had an issue getting them rebuilt. My father runs a Hitachi and likes it because it is noticeably lighter. I dont like the grip on the Hitachi's, it doesnt fit my hand as well as the Bostitch.

the pros here use hitachi or bostich. home guys and weekend warriors use rigid or porter cable.

Have never had a problem getting parts and rebuild kits even for my dads gun which is 20 years old.

^ ^ Yep, I'd say Hitachi is the best also.

Top three brands would be Hitachi, Senco and Paslode. Next tier would be Porter Cable, Bostich, Ridgid, and even Craftsman.

My Milwaukee has been great but I would vote Hitachi as the best out there now.

Professional use would be Hitachi or Bostitch. Hitachi seem to last us about five years rather than 2 maybe 3 for Bostitch. Both of them get to the point they start breaking too often to be worth it.
Occasional use, Porter cable work fine. We had one go a full season with no hiccups.

For commercial use? Max, Hitachi, or Bostitch. For occasional or DIY use, you can probably pick whatever fit your budget.

I love my Makita and always thought it was balanced better then Bostich or Hitachi's.

Local lore says Hitachi for the pros with Bostitch a close second.

This is for a 9 square job and maybe a future one of the same size. Home use on my own house. Slow old may working without any extra grunt labor. I could probably hand nail just as easy, but the GJ motto is "MORE TOOLS"!

So I found the Bostitch RN46-1 at Lowes for $199 less a $20 coupon code, for a total of $191 including tax. Hitachi nails on sale, 7200 count for $20.

Took me a minute to figure out how to use a bump nailer.

Now I need a good framing nailer that will get into tight spaces so I can extend the rafter tails. Any suggestions?
