I am kicking around the idea of adding an addition to the garage to store my compact tractor, lawn tractor, and attachments. If I do so I am considering making the ceiling tall enough to accommodate a lift on down the road. Currently I have 8' ceilings in the existing garage with maybe 4" of foundation block exposed, so in essence, 8'4" ceilings. I can put scissor trusses in but that would not gain me enough ceiling height, so I am wondering if anyone has built an addition on to a house or a garage that the adjoining roof structure is taller than the existing structure and have a pic as to what it looks like. My existing structure runs east and west and the new would run north and south. So the peak would be above my existing peak if that makes sense. I am also thinking of going with a pole type of structure vs. the stick built that the garage is now.
So if anyone has any pics, can you post them up so I can get an idea? Thanks.
BTW...my existing garage is 28' deep x 36' wide with a 6' overhang on the front and side. I am thinking of making the addition 24' wide and 28'-32' deep straight off the back.
