Rookie questions

Hello! This is my first post after lurking for a while. We are in the early stages of our new home; we are breaking ground in a couple of weeks. We would like to have radiant in floor heat in the basement. Is it possible to have radiant in floor heat in the garage as well, and run it off of 1 system? Is there equipment that splits the system into 2 zones? I want to have as much knowledge as possible before meeting with the installer.

Also - I am going to finish the basement myself. How do I go about securing stud walls to the floor, if it has the in-floor heat tubing installed? Do I coordinate where my walls will be ahead of time so no tubing is in the way, or do I use constructin adhesive to secure the bottom of the walls insted of anchors? Whats the best way?

I tried to use the search feature several times to find these answers without any luck. Please share your expertise! This is a great forum; I am very happy to have found it.

There are "Zone Valves " used to separate the heating areas. As a thought Are you going to heat the whole basement at one time? If not add another zone in the rooms not used often. Every Zone valve has a thermostat.

To secure the sole plate to the floor you need about 1 inch into the floor to hold it . The weight of the wall will keep it from moving. That should not touch the Pex tubing.

Heater size, I am not sure how they size it for your application.

For my 4 different zones that come off a header, I used seperate circulating pumps. Each zone has it's own thermostat and check valve.

My Pex is at the bottom of the slab. To secure the walls I used Hiti bolts (drilled in anchors) that were only inserted 2 inches, in combination with construction adhesive.
