Room above garage question

I am converting the finished room above my GARAGE into a home theater. Currently the room is finished and carpeted.

I am adding a riser platform to elevate some of the chairs. The platform will be built using a 2 x 8 frame and plywood top. I would like simply to place the riser on top of the carpet, so that it can be removed at a later time. It would also help acoustically isolate the platform from the plywood floor below by placing it this way.

I also would like to have 120 v in the riser to supply outlets for the power recline chairs. I have tapped off an existing outlet and can use this to power the outlets.

My question: Is it, per code, ok to hard wire this platform with standard romex with it sitting on top of the carpet. No romex will be exposed, since the platform butts against the wall where I am tapping the power and the plywood top covers everything.

As long as it can't be damaged then your ok,the only issue an inspector might say anything about is the platform not permanent. You should just put a plug on the wire and plug it into the wall outlet behind the platform so it's easy to move and disconnect.
