Room for garage lift

So I'm going with a lift and I have a 10'6" 0r about 127"'s to the ceiling. I have the typical automatic garage door paraphernalia running down the middle. I kept thinking, what the heck am I going to do with that stuff?

Why can't I just remove it and make the door manual? The only down side is that the door would have to be down before I raise the car.

You didn't say what style lift you want. A two post clear floor style will be too tall. A two post floor plate will fit or a four post will fit. Also the Dannmar MaxJak would fit. You may need to add highlift track to your door and use the Liftmaster 3800 opener. That's what I did.

Very nice setup. I have lift envy..

I just put in a 3800 to clear the space between by double wide door to make room for a lift. I only have 9' 8" so am probably looking at a plate style lift.

I like the idea of the MaxJax but it looks flimsy to me. Is it safe?

If by "plate style" you mean a surface mount ,full rise scissor lift, I would be interested to read what you decide to buy.The benchmark seems to be the Bendpak SP7X. I don't like the torsion bar on the floor . Gregsmithequipment.com has an Atlas that is a bit cheaper.
The 'bargain' seems EE reveiwed elsewhere on this Forum.I found the EE 6501 is rather more expensive than I expected at $3500 fob Shanghai. So I am looking at used SP7X which seem to be about $2000.Allegedly ,they are a pain to move because you can't disconnect the torsion bar between the two pads. Seems improbable ,but that is what I'm told. It would make lifting/moving it a bear!
An old Nussbaum Jumbo 111 may be a better idea?

Who's post are you commenting to?

This statement is right off the Challenger Lift website.

"This floor plate car lift makes a great addition to the home enthusiast garage as well as professional vehicle service shops. CLFP9 car lifts provide dependable long lasting durability with a smooth, reliable lift motion."

That is a 2 POST (not plate) Lift
