Room needed to turn into garage

I’m in the planning stages and wanted to know is there a general rule of thumb for amount of room needed to turn into and back out of garage.

I have a cobra, a 66 mustang and a Tahoe. I can set the slab back off the current asphalt area pretty much any amount I need.

I don’t want to have to make any goofy 3 point turns or anything like that.

I set my 3-space carport slab parallel to the house, in/out side facing the house. Placed it 40' from the wall of the house. 5' of planting area against the house (with curb to keep from accidentally hitting the wall), 35' of gravel to the carport. Can easily pull in and out in one turn, no back and forth. Vehicles are Jeep JKU, Ford Escape, Lincoln LTX, and F250 CC/SB.

Wouldn't want the distance any less, haven't wanted more.

I have 25 ft from the garage to the side of the driveway in our side loader garage. I use every bit of it to back the Silverado Double cab out and turn to head out the driveway. It is very similar to the 2nd one in the above mentioned web site.

I have a little extra cut coming out of the garage as the doors are 10 ft wide.

I used to think our last house was a luxury with 8 ft wide doors compared to the house previous to that that had 7 ft wide...typical tract house type doors. Cars fit ok but not so much trying to fit a full size truck in.

10 ft wide seems right for a full size truck.

The comfortable distance to turn into a 90d parking space in a parking lot is 25'.
Next time you're at the store, school, or church try it out.

You'll also want at least a 2' slab extension past the door jamb, at the dead end of the slab, for the front to swing out during backup. But if you can extend the slab past the door another 12' or so it would allow a 2 point backup so you can drive to the street forward.

Before I built, I staked out my build, and the door opening and tried pulling into the build and backing out of the build. Make door stakes wider or moving them to make navigating in and o7t easier. So glad I did.

Same here. Grade stakes and 500' or cord. Staked out all - man door, overhead, interior wall - all of it. Had 5 designs on paper with various exterior auto access, 4 went in the trash almost instantly.

We had 30' from garage door to edge of driveway retaining wall. It was tight. But we have a crew cab truck and a Yukon XL. It was doable fine if you were parking in the middle of a garage, but no way would we have been able to maneuver both vehicles into the tight garage space with only 30'
