Don't mind the biological life form next to the engine. :bounce:

I few years back I was thinking..hmm..a rotary engine is pretty small, and I bet it would look great on the corner of the family room. So I picked my tools and visited my local pick it yourself auto parts junkyard.

I found a 1st gen RX-7 in there. Perfecto. Tore the engine apart right there and took the eccentric shaft, 1 rotor, 1 housing and the back plate. The guys at the counter didn't know what to make of it so I got it all for around $50. Took it to be dipped and cleaned, then I had the pieces powder coated to make it a bit more presentable, and there we have it. The cleaning and powder coating cost more than the parts themselves.

Fully movable. You can turn the eccentric shaft and watch the rotor spin round-n-round.

Those rotors are a lot bigger than I thought they would be.
