Rotary Laser Levels

Anybody do any shopping recently? Being laser technology which has come a long way with other uses I am not sure if there are any new flashy features I shouldn't go without. I am curious if the art of leveling has had any great leaps forward. I am personally looking in the $800 dollar range although if someone found something readily available for less that is built to last i would love to hear about it. I do not want a crappy one time use homeowner model like I have seen at menards, accidents happen, things get bumped and quality products can take a little of that. I want to buy a decent one and have it last my building years.

I wouldn't hesitate buying a Dewalt. They're tough just like their cordless tools.

Not enough information in your post. How much distance will I be need to level. Outside use, Indoor use? Will I need to set a grade? Do I want to set it on its side and use it for a straight line. How much accuracy do I need? Do I want manual or auto level.

One thing to keep in mind is availability of calibration by a shop.

I have no experience with rotary levels but I was in the market for a decent self leveling laser level. I settled on a Bosch unit that has horizontal and vertical lasers as well as self leveling. But I find myself using the old square and tape measure more often.
