Rotary lift problem

All of the sudden my lift does not lower smoothly. It's a little jerky as it goes down. When it gets about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way down it goes down the rest of the way smoothly.

It is covered by warranty and it was installed by rotary factory distributor/installer so I know they will take care of it but I was just wondering if anyone else ever had this problem or knows the cause.

My guess is that it could be a variety of things from installation problems, to defective parts. One of the new lifts in a shop I am at would not go all the way to the floor about 3 days after install. Installers came back out, but said it was a manufacturers defect and passed it back to them. Something about the cylinder not being quite right.

Make them fix it, no fun to have a problem with a car in the air.

Did you ck the fluid level? Might be getting air in the lines. Easy stuff first.

+1. My lift would make a noise when letting it down on the stops with a vehicle on it, wound up running it all the way up 3-4 times which is their bleeding process & added a qt of atf to it & stopped this. Might be some air in the lines which will take going thru the process to bleed it more than once.

As suggested above it was in fact air at the top of one or both of the cylinders.

I called the installer this morning and he said that it was probably some air that had worked its way to the top of one of the cylinders. He said to bleed cylinders.

To bleed he said to raise lift slightly. Then loosen bolt on top of cylinder farthest from the motor until fluid with no air came out, then do same to the other side.

I bled as stated and it now lowers smoothly. Installer said that I should not have to bleed again since there should be no more air in any of the lines.
