Rotary Phase Converter/ Air compressor

This is a IR compressor with two 3hp/3ph motors, I started with a 10hp 3ph motor as a idler on 240v single phase.

930 dreamer this looks cool just to clarify all the wiring diagrams for 3 phase convertors show capacitators, do they just start the convertor switch motor?

Most use Caps to start and for the run circuit. This also balances the voltage in the 3 phase. I just wanted to see if my shop panel would start the 10hp idler.

You should put an amp clamp on the idler without the compressor running to check the wasted power of the RPC. With compressor applications the RPC must run all the time in anticipation of the compressor starting. Additionally the RPC must by as much as twice as large as the compressor HP due to the "hard start" application.
