Want to build a rotating tv compartment in my rv wall. Something I can mount a small flatscreen on one side, a picture on the other side and be able to rotate as to watch tv in the living area or the bedroom, by rotating the unit.
The hole in the wall and box are self explanatory, but the rotating pin is where I need some ideas.
Has anyone built something like that?
I was thinking an alignment pin in the center on top, but not sure about a rotating mechanism for the bottom?
Thanks

I agree with the above but maybe you could use some hardware from lazy Susan style cabinets.

Flip it on the vertical plane- wide screen TV's would require a hole in the wall quite deep if you were to flip it horizontally. As long as it's not a Plasma TV, then mounting position won't matter.

But really, just get a simple TV and plug in a USB stick with photos if you want it to show pictures when not in use as a TV.

Regardless of whether you can get a second TV cheap, this is a pretty cool idea and I'm interested in seeing how you solve the problem.

There is a scene in the football betting movie "Two for the Money" with a cool rotating Tv stand from one room to another. If I remember it had a simple frame around it mounted on a swivel support top and bottom in the middle.

Good movie. Also, the first time I saw a "rotating TV". Seems to me, the problem would be the wires getting tangled up. As long as you always rotate a certain direction and then rotate the opposite you can build enough slack in. But if it just keeps going round and round, wouldn't it get all tangled?

Anyhow, link to a/v forum showing that setup and also a link to a pre-built cabinet.

I think you would want a hollow spindle to run the wires through for a clean install. Should not be that difficult. Do you have pics of the mounting spot. Not sure how TV signal goes through but you could get fancy and use Mercotac swivels. Not really load rated but could be part of the assembly. They do come on Ebay at times.

You could even use a pipe collar and ******(ABS, steel, or even PVC). Section or bevel as necessary. Make a wooden version. Look in the plumbing dept for a swivel that works. Sink slip joint.

How thick is the wall?
