rough framing vs final framing inspections

so i finally got word back from the city. (5 emails, 5 voicemails, and one office visit)

I can get a temp CO if i get the final electrical and final framing inspection done.
Means i can use the space as intended except parking cars (no driveway)

But I am unable to find what an inspector looks for during a final framing inspection. I passed rough, and my framer is out of the country until 2017.

This is Cook County, IL if anyone could help.

Basically makes sure the building is finished from where it was during the rough inspection. Things like door/window installs, hurricane ties, siding install etc. If your
framer did a reasonably decent job not something to worry about. Most inspectors are
overworked and do a quick check for obvious problems, they rarely give you problems unless you really screw up.

In my neck of the woods rough framing and final framing are the same thing. (The only other inspection I get is a shear wall inspection) framing inspection comes after plumbing, electrical, HVAC but before insulation.

On final framing they are looking for things that I did wrong or incomplete but also what the other hacks that came behind me did to my work. I've had other trades drill through beams and do all sorts of structural damage before.

So anyway, if you had one framing inspection already and nothing got damaged during the electrical phase I would expect you'd pass final framing.

As far as asking the inspector, it took me 3 weeks to get anyone on the horn, let alone an inspector.

I am in lake co.
Just north of you.
Not in any city limits.
My final lasted 10 min.
He looked at the wall paneling (OSB and pegboard), stuck a circuit tester into the only outlet, switched the only light bulb on and off, and signed I off.
I have done a lot since but nothing needing inspection.

mine is non-covered cavities and no insulation.
i need to address the GFCI outlets but i was told the final framing is different from final electrical and final final inspection. That will happen after the driveway is poured.

Years ago I got my final inspection and I wasn't home and the building was locked.

They don't make a big deal of anything.

The last time I had something inspected it was for a whole house generator.
When the inspector showed up with the approval green tag already filled out, got out of his truck and
Saw it sitting there and said , looks good, handed me the green tag and left.

It is all a cluster F&$#. The big boss says i can do a temp CO by doing this and that, but the inspector that came out said he doesnt know what he is talking about and there is no such thing. Its final or nothing.
He said i can move stuff into the garage, but leave the outlets clear to be tested down the road.
But now i am going to head to electrical forum and find out my cover and panel options. He did a general look around and said i need to address a few electrical issues to pass.
Basically have a 100 amp panel in the house, the detached has a 100 amp (he says cant do that, even though there is a 60 amp breaker feeding the garage panel) and i ran out of money to insulate and close walls, but my outlets are all in with mudrings.

My town allows for a temporary CO. As long as the building is rough framed, and has no safety based reasons to deny, a temporary CO can be issued.

Maybe check the town code? May be a little used regulation, or one the town doesn't want to use because in the past people got a temp CO and never finished it.

My last roof addition on my house had structural add ons and such. I was getting everything neat and clean in the attic for the inspection and then the CO showed up in the mail.

Most towns can't change property tax assessments until a CO is issued. So they just issue it to keep the assessor happy.

I am just going thru a similar thing, they would have charged me add. $75 for a rough framing inspection which I find odd since once electric, plumbing are installed it makes framing changes more difficult.

But like it was pointed out before at the final framing inspection they look for the things the electrician, plumbers etc. did to the framing.

Here they did not let me sign off on having the furnace temporary hooked up so I could heat the place while working on it.
