Anyone know where they should go?

In all the pictures I see you never see the plugs. It looks like they are below the top of the washer and dryer.

Is there a proper height for the box?

Is GFCI required?

Not technically, but is it a dedicated laundry room, or part of the bathroom? Is there a laundry sink? (GFCIs 6 feet to the sides) Is it in the basement? Many things could trigger a GFCI requirement.

Being a laundry room or washer are not too examples.

On a recent remod, in a combo bath/ ultilty used a blankface GFCI in a alcove for a stacked W/D to make access to the GFCI easier, in that case it was required because of the bath. In a normal situation where it's not installed in a bathroom or if a laundry tray is not in there no GFCI is required, & to answer the OP's question, 30" is a normal height for receptacles serving laundry equipment.

Do you mind if I add a question to this thread? Is there any reason I cannot move my dryer plug up higher, so I can reach it without moving the dryer, to swap in a welder or compressor as needed? Thanks1

Nothing in particular. The builders just like to hide those behind the units. I have to move a 50A stove plug down 4" because of a new stove with a shorter power alcove in the back. It's just a PITA.
