Rough in inspection question....

From how I am understanding inspector will do two inspections...

What state does all of my wiring have to be in for first inspection..?

Are switches and receptacles hooked up or are wires just pulled through devices..and circuits not hooked into breakers...?

I will have the following :
Multiple outlets
two light switches
dome lamps and ex fan for small bath
Two T-8 8 ft flo lamps (narrow ceiling mounted)

Can wire just be coiled up where a device would be expected...?

Just not sure how this all unfolds and what is expected..

No device, no fixtures. All wiring made up as best as possible.

Best bet is to call your inspector and ask him.

It depends on the state,because I heard some states like ny you don't need a rough inspection. In nj for the outlets you have to have the grounds crimped together and in the switches the neutrals have to be connected also. You could hook up the switches and outlets but can't screw them in the boxes,but that also makes it harder to Sheetrock. Any metal boxes have to have green ground screw and wire connected outer insulation stripped off all wire in box. Fluorescent lights you can just have the tail stick out

I'm willing to bet that your electrical rough-in is to make sure that all of your wire is ran properly (centered in the stud), properly stapled and of the right size. If you had one or two switches or outlets installed...not an issue...he is looking at what goes in the wall....once you cover it...he can't see it.

My inspector found a couple of items that needed correcting....and still signed off...of course he knows we will do what he says....

Same here for rough inspection. All wiring and boxes are in place with the grounds made up in the boxes.

I thought it was strange but I've heard it from more than one person. I also remember doing a job with my old boss in Warwick ny and only had to do a final. Unless it was rough only and no final, it's been about 10 years

I addition to the grounds required for rough inspection, although not required, making any other wires up (splices & pigtails) is usually easier to do in rough, and saves damage to finished walls than if done later.
