Rough wiring for a non-existant Island

I have my rough wiring inspection on Monday but still haven't gotten an answer from my town about how they want me to handle the rough wiring for a kitchen island that doesn't physically exist yet. Does anybody have any ideas? the only one I can think of is to run a wire back to the box coming up through the floor with the wire long enough to go anywhere on the island.

I am not an electrician but couldn't you bring the wiring in to a makeup box on the floor, or in the floor and then wire from the makeup box to the island when the island is placed? Or to prevent damage during construction leave wire coiled up under the floor and fish it out later. Are you over a finished ceiling below?

The basement is under the kitchen island and it is only about 10 feet to the breaker box. I could easily leave a wire run coming out of the floor where the island is going to be and terminating in a loose box. One thing I found is that you can't have any upward facing boxes in a kitchen due to water.

A thought I just had was to put the breaker into the box and pull the wire to where it would come up under the floor but leave it spooled in the basement until I have the island in place THEN drill it through and pull it up.

You only need to be concerned if it will be concealed under drywall or boarding.If it will continue to be visible at the time of final inspection,the inspector can look at it then if he is at all interested.

I installed the breaker and ran line out to under where the island will be with about 10 feet extra coiled up under the floor. I don't have to worry about drywall or anything else at that point.

We did this all the time - the island is comprised of cabinets that come later in the production phase. Bring your 12-2 to the island, leave a large coil of 10+ feet or what ever you need. Wire nut the ends of each conductor, tape each off. Put a staple where it comes thru the floor. Get your rough in inspection, then route thru the cabinets when they come.

you install breakers before rough in there?

All of my breakers are installed. The minimum I needed to do was to run the wiring but nothing I could find said that I couldn't also install the breakers before rough. They are in a brand new panel which isn't live yet.

All I did was put a breaker in and connect a 12/2 run to under where the island will be and left about 10 feet spooled under the floor. The inspector never even asked me about it.
