I've been given the go ahead by my boss to revitalize this 20 odd year old 5 inch cheapo Roughneck style vise. It's been sitting in the corner of the shop in a pile of dust and our other boat needs a backup vise.
I tore it apart and spent an hour wire wheeling all the odds and ends on our 1 horse Dayton. I also cleaned and sprayed the base in 100% Real New Cat Yellow engine enamel.
The ring (screw down handles thread into this) that sits between the vise body and this base is cracked on both thread bosses. Other than this, she's in pretty nice shape. I tried looking online for this part (I'll post a photo later) and came up empty. I'm pretty sure it shares parts with the dozen other named versions of the same style. Does anyone know where I can find this ring, or have a spare in the boneyard for sale. Our next option is to spend some hours making a new one from aluminum plate.
