Round head ratchet disassembly

Any trick to removing the selector assembly from a round head ratchet? I've figured out how to remove the drive mechanism from the wrench body, but can't get the selector and pawl assemblies removed. The ratchets are generic Taiwan and USA models, and I need to get them apart to TIG weld a few sockets in place for a tool set I am making. A couple of the ratchets have the plastic selector, so they need to be completely removed. Thanks!

I've been able to get the retaining ring out, that's the easy part. The issue I am having is getting the forward/reverse pawl out of the ratcheting mechanism to remove the selector.

If it's like my Gedore ratchet you can use a small flat screwdriver and push the pin/ball that is between the spring and pawl, into the spring cavity and then lift up the selector.

Usually on roundheads there is a small detent pin (sometimes it's a tiny ball bearing so watch it doesn't fly out, its spring loaded!) in the selector that provides the spring action for the pawl. You need to depress the pin/ ball with something (a pick, or any other similar tool) and then pull the selector straight out of the ratchet mechanism. Doing this in a plastic bag provides some good insurance for not losing any parts. After that the pawl should be held in with a pin, get that out by hit ratchet mech. on a wood surface. That should be it unless these are some oddball ratchets.
