Is there a good chart somewhere that shows the different kinds of router bits, and the profile they chew out?

Hi,

I don't seem to recall seeing any chart, but I can pass on a great tip:

The next time you do any work make an extra pass say another 1'' then cut off that extra scrap of wood and put it in the same place as the router bit.

Every time you look at piece of wood you will see the profile.

Hope this helps you out.

Are you trying to have a chart for just the ones you own or a bunch of others too? You could always order a catalog from a company that sells router bits such as http://www.mlcswoodworking.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/smarthtml/pages/catalog.html and cut out the profile of the ones you want and glue them on poster board.

Or if you have some spare scraps of wood use each bit to make a 3-4" piece and glue or hook that to some poster board to get more of a 3d look. This is what we did when I went to college and had a wall full of pieces that we could take off the board and look at. If you do this just be sure to label to keep them organized.

I'm looking for a chart that would show me the different profiles so I know which bit to buy for what I'm looking to do...

I'll take a look at that catalog above...

Just received my Rockler catalog in the mail and it has a great set of profile pics along side the bit.
