Part of my garage foundation walls are exposed inside. What is the best cement product to fill in the foundation wall tie holes and patch some minor honeycombing? A sand mix or non shrink grout perhaps? I will be painting them after smoothing the finish.

Is this a poured concrete foundation? Sounds like it.

When I did the drywall on my garage ceiling, I feathered the compound down the concret walls about a foot. Contemplated coating all the walls to fill the little voids. I gave that thought up as it seemed rather pointless. Afterall its a garage.

Since this is inside your house (I guess), I would use drywall compound. No sanding necessary, just damp sponge. Hasn't been a problem for me, and I'm sure the temperature extremes are worse in my unheated garage than in your house. I've actually had frost on my inside walls.

for rubbing concrete, cement and water, adding a little lime will make it creamy. keep a water bottle close to keep temping the mix
