anyone used ruberized type flooring? they installed a new floor at the gym that seems to come in large rectangles, about 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch thick and looks similar to epoxy but not glossy.

It used to be common in labs prior to epoxy. Do a search for "Pirelli floors" or something like that... that's where the Racedeck coin-pattern design came from.... My concern with any rubber floor mat type installation would be bunching up when rolling something heavy (like a loaded toolbox) across it not to mention any kind of flame/sparks. I like the ribbed style mats for parking to collect daily driver water/snow/debris, but not as a shop surface (hurts like hell when you kneel on it).

the stuff they put dwon in the local gym is fairly hard, seems like stuff would roll across it fairly easly, i think i just need to ask the manager.

Has anyone used the same type of flooring that is installed at Jiffy Lube? Looks descent and holds up to traffic. If anyone has installed, who is the manufacturer? Thanks

Sounds like a product I've specified on several commercial kitchen projects, Protectall Safety Flooring. It's a PVC mat system. The mats come in 5'x5'x1/4" sections. The seams are chemically welded, creating a continuous surface. It's very durable, the slip coefficient is actually better wet than dry, and damaged areas are easily replaced.

Oh, and BTW, it's expensive too....about $10/s.f. installed...
