Can someone tell me what the rules of solicitation are on this forum please. I want to offer a toolbox service thread that I think a lot of people would jump on. I'm just not sure if I'm allowed to or not. Thanks

In my opinion, if someone is a contributing member and not just here to pop in once in a while to sell stuff, then advertising their business in a signature or a thread is fine, especially if it is relevant to our core topics.

We have a number of members who have done this.

Ryan, the board owner, is the final judge of what is and is not allowed. You might send him a private message and ask for his opinion or permission on what you would like to do.

Broadly speaking, we welcome small business owners to participate in the forums, offer advice or help and as an outcropping of that, advertise their businesses. Forum participation is key, however. We delete and ban members who come here only to plug their product or service without offering anything in return for the publicity.

In other words: If you want to start a thread about the cool work you do to toolboxes in your garage and your signature line happens to have your phone number and info, we're cool with that.

On the other hand, if you start a thread that goes something like "Hi, call me at 1-800-123-4567 and I'll fix your toolbox!" it's going to get erased.

Edit: That trip to the fridge took longer than I thought. Bull beat me, but it's good to see we independently agree. :)

And that keeps this forum from being overrun with spam. :D

Yeah, still no reply but I might go ahead and post the topic if I don't hear back from him. Most of you agree that as long as I'm a regular member and not just a flyby trying to plug an offer, that it's ok.

I tried to do the same months ago for stuff my VW/Audi shop offers but have never had a response. Better luck to you!

I didn't look at your name until I saw the next post...I wonder if you have to change your name? lol

I chuckled...
