I picked these up the other day with a dunch of long nose pliers at a sale. I am pretty sure they are clamp pliers of some sort but not sure I know exactly which clamps they are used for???

Anyone got a picture of the clamps they are used for?

Those pliers are used on Chrysler product cars and trucks of the late 1950's and early 1960's to remove the clamps that hold the radiator, heater, power steering, brake booster, etc. hoses on. I have a similar pair of pliers, but I don't have the clamps. I am in the process of doing a superficial restoration of a 1963 Chrysler, and have been looking for those clamps in various sizes. If anyone knows of a inexpensive source for these clamps, please let me know. I am already being buried in over run costs on this car, and I have yet to drive it. It is a long story of repairs, but to make it short, anything that could possibly need replacing needs replacing.

That's the one.

Reason the grooves in the jaws at like "+"s is so you can use the pliers straight on or at 90 degrees.

Awesome! May not be real expensive pliers but an excellent garage find.

They came in a box with 4 pairs of long nose MAC pliers and about 12 wrenches (SnapOn, Armstrong, Craftsman) 7/16-1"

Those "wire" clamps are called Corbin Clamps

Thank you for the information Elroy...

If I remember correctly MCmaster-carr stocks that kind of hose clamp.

You can buy a set of clearance Wilde's that look the same right down to the chrome finish and red grips for 7-8 bucks from www.harryepstein.com they will do fine, that is where I got mine.

I take that back, I just checked and they are less than 5 bucks!

I know they are all over the bikes I tear down and work on. I was just out in the garage and have a 79 KZ on the lift. I found 8 of them in a matter of seconds...lol
