Soon I plan to rewire my garage. Can I run 2 separate circuits in or through a 2 gang 2 receptical (quad outlet) box to the next and so on? This would be to separate the loads. Example say i have a space heater plugged in one side and I have my shop vac on the other I know I won't trip the breaker this way. I think some kitchens are wired like this? Or is this me over thinking this?? I plan on 12-2 wire with 20a breakers. I tried the NEC I think it says I can. Just want to make sure.

If its passing thru you don't want to tie the breaker. This is an indication that it is a part of a MWBC which is not the case here.
