Running a Natural Gas Line

I have a natural gas H2O heater and furnace in the center of the basement. The H2O heater and furnace are fed via a 1 inch black pipe tee'd to 3/4 inch to the furnace on one side and to the H2O heater on the other. The H2O heater is then downsized to 1/2 inch pipe. I'm thinking about installing a gas cooktop in the kitchen 1 floor up and 15 ft over. Was going to call a plumber to install but are they using Flexible Gas Piping piping now vs black pipe for inside the house?

If you're hiring a plumber to do the job, I'm sure they could do it with black pipe if that's what you want to use... The only problem might be whether or not the 1" pipe would supply enough gas to feed all three appliances.

I can't say for VA, but in WI,CSST cannot be sold to unlicensed installers, gas/appliance whips not withstanding.
You also run into Bonding issues. Almost everyone I deal with has gone to Flashshield type material to eliminate the bonding issue.
For retrofit the CSST is great stuff, nice time saver. Hard to make it "Look Good."
You can spec Black pipe for the install. A decent Plumber will not have an issue with it. For us Flashshield is a nice time saver but multiple fittings, make Black pipe cost effective. As the fittings are $$$

Yep I'll call a plumber unless there is a member on this forum who lives nearby that can do this . I'm in Northern VA just outside DC .......

We use the IFGC to size gas fired appliances. It takes some training and should only be done by qualified personnel. Not all plumbers are gas fitters and few plumbing codes include heating. Many do not even address gas or any fuel code in their licensing exams.
