Long story short.....every other time I need my little homemade 26 gallon used to be electric but somebody put a gas engine on it air compressor that I got for cheap at a yard sale to stay running it doesn't
:
So I was at lowes and I looked at a Kobalt 60 gallon compressor, 240 volt and the motor is advertised @ 15.7 amps. The price is $500 bucks for that one, it's really all I need for what I do. My father picked up a CH from the Depot probably back in 1994 and its never missed a beat.
I've got a 5500 Watt Generator and a Miller Bobcat 250 gas driven welder that has 10500 watt generator. I dont have power going to my barn yet, for now just running 3-4 lights off of an extension cord from the house. I'm almost thinking about buying the compressor and running it off either one of the generators until can get power to the shed. Both the compressor and the generator would in a separate shed about 20 feet from the barn to keep the noise down. Has anybody else done this before? The company I used to work for kept a 30 gallon elec compressor as a spare for when one of our gas units quit on our service trucks. The welders were also smaller 9500 Watt Millers. I seem to remember reading about this a while ago but then someone got to talking about dirty vs clean electricity and I lost interest at that point lol.
