Running compressor intake into attic or outside to reduce noise?

For an attached finished garage: Has anyone run their compressor intake to either up into the attic above or out a wall to reduce the noise? Currently, my 2 stage 60 gallon compressor does have a small solberg-style air filter, but would like to reduce the noise levels even more. Not sure I want to go as far as building a box/room around the compressor as then we get into the issue of cooling.

I've done some searching, found a great deal of info on filters/silencers or relocating the compressor outside, but not much on putting the intake into attic or outside.

Thanks.

Alternatively, what are the thoughts of putting the compressor in a crawl space?
(yes, I've done a search, both here and across the interweb)

New house, 4' tall unconditioned crawl space, Arkansas (no freezing), a short run to the attached garage, easy access in order to drain condensation from the 60 gallon tank. While my preference is to keep an eye/ear on the compressor, getting back a bit of floor space, while removing the source of noise, would be a nice benefit. My use is occasional home owner, so 1x to 2x per week use max. Would need to run an electrical line/outlet, but shouldn't be too major of a project.
Thoughts? Personal experience?

MrBreeze, take the air from outside, not from the attic. Attic air is hot. Compressor gets hot enough as it is.

Crawlspace has MAX humidity. Comp. there is probably OK, but run a pipe to pick up outside air.

404 - Not sure the crawlspace air would be any more humid than the ambient air. There is a poly barrier atop the soil, and the space has about a dozen passive vents on 3 sides. Since it is shaded, full brick siding, and out of any residual heat from the vehicle engines in the garage, I would think it might be a better location than the garage?

Jack Olsen stashes his in the crawlspace of his house, runs it to the garage. Others here have run it to the attic. Try putting this into your googler: garagejournal compressor intake attic. *

Google will get you far on GJ research!

Using the Google, I just found my favorite intake silencer, post #22 at this thread:

I plan on putting a larger compressor in the 2nd floor of my garage. I plan on putting it in a corner, drilling a hole for 2 lines and power to come down through the floor then building a small removable enclosure with some sound deadening board around it. IDK what I need for ventilation, but thats the basic plan.

True. A google search tends to provide a better result set than searching on GJ and in fact I had found and read that thread prior (which spoke to air intake filters - which I have already installed) to posting this thread. Haven't seen much regarding installing in a crawl space (others have gone outdoors, in attic and basement)

Have HOA that might have an issue with having an outside air intake/filter, and no area to hide an external air intake/filter like post #22, so that's why I was considering putting the compressor in the crawl space.

I'll search for info that Jack may have posted about his crawl space install. Thanks.

Under the house, make darn sure your electricity is solid and conductors are well-protected by fusing or circuit breakers. Problems can lead to a fire built under your house. Not good.

My fuzzy memory says that there's no much info, something like the occasional:

Reader: Jack, where is your air compressor in that small garage?
Jack: It's in the crawlspace of the house.

But use the google and prove me wrong! That's what it's for.
