I'm certainly getting an electrician to the actual patching but I figure I would ask so i could educate myself.

My new garage/shop is about 16 feet from the house. The meter box is behind the house, towards that corner, probably another 20 feet. I figure it would be easier to run (and burry) a cable from where the meter box is to the garage. the other option is to break walls and go through hell fire and damnation to run the cable from the house breaker panel on the basement. Is it kosher to do this?

Need some pics

If its just a meter pan and no disconnect, then its not a good route to go as the feeder to the garage will be unfused. Also, the meter pan probably forsnt have dual lugs.

Attached are two pictures of what's there. To the right is an outside breaker to cut power to the house. Bellow the meter seem to be a space for a second meter. The box below it is phone/internet. On the second picture you can see the new building on the right, where power is going into.

Below the meter is the wire trough NOT a second meter pan. That is for the poco only.

Can you take a pic of the right side of the panel with the cover and deadfront off.
