I'm in the planning stages of changing the layout of my garage and thinking about electrical changes.
It's a Block wall garage. I have a 20a circuit wired with 12ga armoured cable, the first outlet has a GFCI. This is sufficient to run my Lincoln 140 mig and my 2hp compressor.
I'm considering putting the compressor outside in a small shed I'd build against the back wall of the garage. This will free up some floor space and decrease the noise. The compressor is more than adequate right now and I have no desire to move up to a larger compressor, I don't paint regularly, and never sandblast.
To power the compressor in the little compressor room I'd have to run power out there, preferably coming off the 20a outlet inside the garage and going through the wall to a box mounted inside the compressor room.
What's the best way to get power from inside to outside?
Can I just run more armoured cable from a box inside, through a hole in the wall to outside/inside the compressor room?
I"m in Ontario Canada if that's important.
