Russell Jennings Stubby Auger Bits

These are small 1/8 to 3/8 auger buts made by Russell Jennings. They are not cut downs of longer bits but stubby bits.

I've never seen these before and cannot find any reference to them online.

Anybody have any clues

I've seen them referred to as dowelling bits. They are supposedly closer to the stated size, to assist with drilling for dowels. I've picked up a handful over the years, but never played with them.

Yup, what he said. Doweling bits. The lack of a square tang means they are for machines, not braces, generally.
