Rust Bullet Peeling at Doorway

I installed rust bullet in my 2 car garage near Denver over labor day weekend, 2017. It was pretty straightforward and looked pretty good. It has really good wet traction and cleans up well.

It has held up well to garage chemicals like oil, gas, brake fluid, etc.

But its nemesis appears to be standing water.

About June 2018 (about 10 months after instalation), it started peeling where the front door closes and water pools. Just a little at first, now (2 years in) a lot. It's also peeling in a few other spots.

I started cleaning at the back and worked my way toward the door so it's possible I got lazy at the end and didn't clean so well. Still disappointing though.

It was pretty smooth. It was about 16 years old but no oil stains and I really cleaned it well.

Rust Bullet adheres very well to concrete that is not profiled via etching or grinding as long as the concrete is not too smooth. Some of your surface may have been too smooth. You may want to sand the areas that have peeled and apply more Rust Bullet to those areas.

Being as PC here as possible..... My experience has been what Shea just said BUT that any time there is a failure the result will be that your floor was too smooth. I have not tried the Duragrade, but, on the most recent formulation of their older product I would prep no matter what.

I would also ask them for a copy of their warranty sheet (the one you have if there is an issue) and fill out all the basic information at time of install -- because you will never remember it down the road.
