There are posts here about laser rust removal every six months or so, it seems. The machines do work, but they are pretty expensive.

I figured as much. Did a quick site search for "laser", but didn't find anything quickly.

I got a fiber laser for marking/engraving a month or so ago. When I was playing around with it at one point I put some dykes with slight surface rust under it to see what would happen. It was able to blast away the rust and while it wasnt back to shiny steel it was clean. Now it would be very size limited for my machine and require reorienting the part to be in focus a few times, but I'm going to keep it in my bag of tricks if I need to derust a small and sensitive part.

I want one too. I don't care if it's small and slow - well, I do, but I would buy a small and slow one if it were available at a price I could afford.

Even if it only does a 1x1 cm square - I'll take my time! Just give me a laser already.
