First post for me - I have been absorbing a lot of great info from you all for a while now and I thank you very much.

I have decided on the Rust-oleum professional - about $74 per 2 gal. kit at Menard's in Omaha, NE - for my 700 sq ft, 9 month old concrete pour. (did it used to be called "industrial") Having waited this long to act I am now faced with cooler temps looming. We might have a few more 69-70 degree days and I would love to get the floor done before a sloppy winter hits. What do you think? Go ahead and prep the hell out of the floor and apply paint on the next 70 degree day or bag it until Spring? As it is I will be doing the garage in two parts as I move stuff around to clear space. I'll finish 2/3 first where the cars will go then the final 1/3 for the workshop after. There are nice control cracks that I will use to define the sections.

As for color etc, I have chosen the tan color and the shiny top coat. The jury is still out on the chips - I'll decide after the first base coat and see if it looks too boring. I'm going to pass on the texture except for a 3x3 pad at the base of the steps.

Thanks guys - your experience and advice is like gold.

Welcome to the board. I just put Rust Oleum EpoxyShield Pro on my 4 month old floor over Labor Day weekend. Here's what I know from my experience.

As long as you have the temps, go ahead and do it all now. Anything that gets dropped on it over the winter has to be cleaned off before applying the coating in the spring. Prep is the majority of the work. Applying the coating is as easy as or easier than painting a wall once the prep is done.

I wouldn't skip the anti-skid material. I used it in the second color coat and flecks before using clear coat. My floor is slick when wet or covered with a lot of sawdust. I wish I had put the anti-skid in the clear coat. Just my experience.

The Menards store by me sells an 18" paint roller frame, epoxy safe roller covers, and roller tray system called Big Ben by Wooster. It's a pricey set up but the time savings makes it worth it especially with the clear coat when you only have an hour of open time per kit. I wish I had bought it in time to do the entire floor.

Boiler - Thanks for the input. I'll keep a weather eye and see what mother nature does for me. I know it is going to be a fine line between the smooth easy-to-clean floor and a non-skid surface. At least I can evaluate it after the first coat or two.

I picked up the big honkin' roller set-up when I bought the paint. It looked too good to pass up.
