Rust-oleum questions

I was just down at one of the box stores looking at the Rust-Oleum Epoxy Floor Kits. And I have a few questions that maybe someone can answer.

1) Rust-Oleum makes two different kits, Garage Floor Coating and Professional Floor Coating kit's. Witch is the better of the two, I'm using it on a home garage floor?

2) Is an Epoxy Floor real slippery when wet, will I need to add the Anti-Skid? A buddy of mine told me that by adding the Anti-Skid it makes it harder to clean up, sweeping and wiping up oil.

3) How does Epoxy cover, will I need too apply two coats?

4) Is a the Semi-Gloss less slippery, then a Gloss Finish

1) The Professional series is solvent based and better than the water based standard. It also has a higher dry film thickness.

2) Epoxy can be slippery when wet. Don't use the Aluminum Oxide anti-skid that Rust-Oleum sells. Use a micronized polymer like Shark Grip instead. It mixes well with the thinner coatings like Rust-Oleum and are easier on the bare feet. It also makes it easier to clean up as well.

3) These types of kits do better with two coats than one. If you have porous concrete 1 coat can sometimes create spots that look less glossy or a different color. This is because the epoxy seeps into the concrete more in different areas which makes the coat thinner and it creates a different look.

4) No

You can read more info about the these type of epoxy floor paint kits here.

If you are considering the Rustoleum Professional you might find my review helpful http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=204436

Awesome. Read your whole review and it really helped me decide to stay with the Rustoleum Pro I ordered. (also from Amazon). My question is what "better" clear do you wish you had applied? I keep hearing mention of urethane clear coat over epoxy. Is that what you wish you had used? Any thoughts on applying a urethane clear over the Rustoleum Pro epoxy clear? And was the shark grip available at HD? Edit, nevermind. Found out it's not via the magic of the internet. You know they have the internet on computers these days. Crazy. Thoughts on this non-slip additive? http://www.homedepot.com/p/ANViL-1-lb-Talon-Grip-Anti-Slip-Additive-207984/203841001?quantity=1

Also, how many gallons would you recommend for a 640sq/ft garage. I bought two kits. 4 Gallons total. Thinking I need another two or 3 for 8 or 10 gallons so I can coat twice like you did.

I am not familiar with the Talon Grip. You can get the Shark Grip at Lowes and at most Sherwin Williams (I think SW actually makes the stuff). As for a different clear I would not know what else to suggest, but I'm sure one of the Pros on this site would have suggestions. Like I said in my review I stuck with the Rustoleum brand clear because I was concerned about possible reactions if another brand was used, although it seems like my fears may have been unecessary based on what I have read here in the last two years.

My garage is about 440 sq ft and I purchased 4 kits (8 gallons of epoxy). This was enough for two heavy coats and there was some left over.

Also, if you have specific questions call the Rustoleum 800 number. I found them to be very helpful.
