Rust-Oleum RockSolid Prep

I am getting ready to pour my RockSolid floor tomorrow morning. I did the acid etch 48 hours ago and let the concrete dry. But after 48 hours it still has these dark spots that weren’t there before. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions on what these are and how to resolve them?Or am I ok to go?

I used the rustoleum concrete patch kit JT recommends. It looks somewhat odd in the picture but much more uniform in person

Okay keep in mind since you have waited a few days after patching those areas need to be thoroughly scuffed. That is epoxy and if you go outside the recoat window you will have delamination in those spots.

I am currently grinding the coating off a 4000 square foot airplane hangar because someone did the exact same thing. Did all their joints days before applying the epoxy and it failed in a 10ft grid across the entire 60x70 Hangar.

Thank you for the tip! I sanded down each patch with a heavy grit paper using my floor polisher. I patched on Saturday, sanded Sunday, Acid etched Monday and plan to coat today.

Any idea why the floor got dark in certain spots after I etched it and rinsed it?

TBH I have never experienced that phenomenon. Hard to tell from pics on my phone. Do the areas still readily absorb water. I highly highly suggest you prime this floor with a 50-60% solids epoxy before applying your main coating.

Is that just like a generic concrete primer?

Yes, basically. I really try to steer people away from Rust-Oleum, but I understand if that is what your budget allows. Just be sure that your surface preparation is on point.

Does vendors on here sell primers, as well as epoxy systems. It might be worth looking into

Thank you for all the info. I didn’t want to invest a lot on the floor as it won’t be a high traffic area. I’m turning half of it into a gym, that will be covered by floor mats. The other half will be a laundry area, so I’m hoping that will help with the wear and tear in the floor as well.

If you haven't already purchased (and can't return ) the Rock Solid I would check with some venders on here. If you go ahead with Rock Solid I would look at this as a Primer.https://allgaragefloors.com/rocksolid-polycuramine-garage-floor-coat/

I did alot of research on Rock Solid , before I went with tiles
