Acetone / ATF is about all I use.
No complaints at all, other than it separates. Just give the can a shake before using.
I use the refillable areosol cans from Menards...very happy with them too.

Lots of trans oil weights. What is recommended? Thinner the better?

I didn't believe in the 1:1 acetone:ATF mix to begin with, I decided to mix some up in an oil can and seal it for the time I would need it. The day came when it was a squirrel cage for the AC supply fan where the shaft was frozen onto the cage. Soaked it with the ATF mix and waited a few minutes after failing to get it out normally and saw it really soak into the rusted area. Good few whacks with a 4lb hammer and it popped right out.

Also I give props to my B&D workmate that took those hits really well!

Some years ago over on Smokestack, there was a link to a "break loose torque" test of nearly all commercial and non commercial rust penetrating products. The 50/50 ATF/Acetone won handily.

I'll try this. I don't share the love for Kroil. I've never found it to work better than PB blaster or anything else.
